The traditional African Talking Drum (sometimes known as a dun dun pronounced doon doon ) is an hourglass shaped two headed drum whose twin heads are laced together with rope or leather. Normally held under the arm or hung over the shoulder the player hits the drum using a curved stick or mallet whilst squeezing the tension ropes to vary the tone to enable the drum to talk or produce tones that sound like words.
