Kit containing Dissectible Transformer, Mains Coil and Induction Accessory Kit.

Apparatus designed for the demonstration of the basic principles of the a.c. transformer. The various coils and cores will also serve as the basis of many experiments in electromagnetism, using either the direct or alternating current.

The inclusion of the BS:EN 61010 compliant mains coil and the 6 turn copper coil from the Induction Accessories Set provides the necessary power for the nail melting experiment. The set of aluminium rings when used with the mains coil allow the Thomson’s rings demonstrations.

The Induction Kit includes: 

  • 1 x Philip Harris Dissectible Transformer 
  • 1 x Mains Coil
  • 1 x Induction Accessories Set.

The Induction Accessories Set includes:

  • A 6 turn copper coil. 
  • Set of aluminium rings, 2 solid and the third split to show that the rings must be continuous for ‘levitation’ to take place. 
  • Solder trough to demonstrate the principle of the induction furnace.
